We (Me, my boyfriend, his parents and brother) set off at the ungodly hour of 8.30 am in the morning on our almost 5 hour journey down to Christchurch in Dorset.
We stayed in a caravan park but they certainly weren't dingy little caravans. That night we went to go see the on-site entertainment. The children's entertainment was still on when we got there which included a character called 'Sammy The Seahorse' who had his very own song and routine which subsequently due to the repetitiveness we learnt without being participants.

The adult's cabaret was one of the children's entertainer's singing, my boyfriend dubbed him a 'Wannabe Red Coat'. His singing was mediocre at best and his comedy lacked hilarity and was mostly pretty personal to his self.

In the UK there is a Youth Parliament as well as the normal Parliament. I decided this time to run for my constituency North Kirklees. The day consisted of several workshops in which we debated about the current cuts, education, local problems, the voting age and we also counted the votes.

I went with one other representative from my college called Koerie, we both dominated the floor on all debates as we seemed to be in our elements. Politics is a strong passion of mine along with my more popular passions.

We had a chance to put questions to some current councillors which was most intriguing and we dominated the floor again. We in one day changed people's opinions, made sure action was taken on certain subjects, promoted our college as a great place for politics and told that we should teach or go in to politics. We even got to sit in the official Council Chambers with our own microphones, the entire day was filmed.

It was a tremendous day which I enjoyed tremendously.

Beatles, Sweets and Liverpool Part 3

We decided to eat early as we didn't want to be rushing to the train station. We had decided earlier to eat at Revolution Vodka Bar & Restaurant. The restaurant doubled up as a club as well with a disco ball and club lights.

The meal was lovely, it's not often that I eat things like a ranch burger but I certainly did enjoy it. After tea we wandered back up to the Peace Monument that had been unveiled next to Liverpool One Shopping Centre.

Liverpool One is an amazing shopping centre that we went to earlier in the day, it had some of my favourite high street stores all in a line which was great. The Liverpool football teams also have shops in there as well.

After wandering around the shops we sat on a bench and people watched which is funny when you're with someone like my boyfriend Dan. He has very definite views on things especially when it comes to the way they dress, all the clubbers and tweeny boppers (who were going to pop and crisp night) started coming out around 7.

After sitting on the bench for a while we decided to make our way up to the train station, which we sat outside for a while people watching again and we did see some sights.

When we moved inside the train station the views got no better as hen parties and stag parties arrived on trains.

We got on the train on time (a tip: book your tickets online in advanced and they're cheaper). We ate more sweets and my boyfriend ate some black jacks making himself look like some odd version of Gene Simmons.

We arrived back in Huddersfield at 9.45 pm it was sufficiently freezing, I was very thankful that my mum came to pick us up. Overall I loved Liverpool and I may be due to go back there in November!

Beatles, Sweets and Liverpool Part 2

We decided to head down to the harbour to the Beatles museum (as it's John Lennon month), find a restaurant and go to the sweet shop.

We decided to sit by the harbour for a while and look at the nice view.

After we'd rested for a while we walked along the front, looking at restaurants and our decision was made based solely on the fact of BBQ sauce.

As I usually do, I found something fun to do, in this instance it involved posing on top of a small pillar.

We also found these massive vents that looked like telescopes

We found the Beatles museum but sadly didn't go in as the massive queue moved nowhere, but we had fun in the gift shop as my boyfriend looks like a younger Ringo Starr

We then walked round to the sweet shop which was fun but on the way I saw an odd picture......

Beatles, Sweets and Liverpool Part 1

I awoke at 5am yesterday to travel to Liverpool. The reason I was travelling to Liverpool was that my boyfriend was checking out the University and as I am also applying to two universities in Liverpool I might as well check out the shopping, music, atmosphere, restaurants and general city life.

We arrived at Liverpool Lime Street Station at around 8.45 and to us the train station was huge! As we both live in Huddersfield we're used to things in microcosms. We then came across two statues of Ken Dodd and Bessie Braddock.

In our town advertisements consist of billboards at the most but to our surprise outside the train station were advertisements on a huge screen.

We came across Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral as well, it must have been the only modern cathedral that we'd laid our eyes on, it was colossal.

It took us well over half an hour to find the university which had given us an appalling map of the city (I saw no roads on there that we walked passed). We found literally every campus owned by the university bar the one that we were meant to be in.

After we found the right place I was sufficiently grumpy as I don't take kindly to having to wake up at 5am and then get lost in a city I don't know. The talk on American Studies was interesting, especially as it was held in a room that looked like a meeting room and the place looked like a London house. The lecturer giving the talk looked like an 80s throw back, he was very large and had curly hair. I had to contain my laughter, nevertheless he was an incredibly interesting guy.

After the university talk we found Liverpool's China Town which is the oldest China Town in Europe. I have been to London and Manchester's China Town. Both cities have the fancy arch but they're nothing next to Liverpool's which is huge!

We then wandered around the streets where I found some amazing vintage, hat, music and charity shops. Although what confused me was when we came across these people dressed in black suits and red ties. Some of them donned ear pieces, they looked like some kind of personnel but I had no idea who they were. Further along the street they walked passed us and there was a man stood outside a shop and he went "Ere mate, what ya doin?" it gave me and my boyfriend some laughs.

I digress, further along the street we found a vinyl shop, I have also been very partial to vinyl as I have grown up with my dad's expensive record player and hundreds of vinyl albums. I was however, shocked at the name of one vinyl in this shop 'Erotic Terrorism'
